A New Milestone for the Sparben Golf Resort Project

By Emily Kay 4 years ago

Sparben Golf Resort is a dynamic and sustainable project which will be located in Les Landes along the South West coast of France.  The project, a high-end golf, real estate and lifestyle resort, will have a hotel, tourist accommodation, permanent housing, golf and sports facilities.

The project is part of the legacy of the hugely successful 2018 Ryder Cup hosted at Le Golf National and which commenced as early as 2010 when the lands were identified by the French Golf Federation, supported by Atout France, as having strong potential to promote golf to the International tourist market.

European Tour Destinations is delighted to update that following a local review with more than 20 experts giving evidence to a jury of citizens, Sparben Golf Resort has passed the latest stage of their planning application.  The jury members expressed their support for the project, outlining the following positives:

  • The project will support meeting the local housing needs based on the foreseeable demographic growth in the territory
  • The project will generate direct and indirect local employment opportunities during the construction phase of the project and during subsequent trading activities
  • The project will attract a new local and international golf clientele and will make the Landes a major golf destination

The final report included recommendations to ensure better urban and environmental integration – as a consequence the initial construction phase may see a reduction in the construction of golf holes from 45 to 27.  There could also be a reduction in tourist accommodation build.

With this favourable citizen expression, it is a further positive step in the right direction to ensure Sparben Golf Resort will go ahead and become a latest addition to European Tour Destinations network of world-class golf and real estate venues.
