The brief given to this exceptional American golf course designer was to craft a 27-hole golf course which maximised the potential of its extraordinary environment.
Nestled in Lagos, in the heart of the Algarve, Palmares Resort is a truly unique golf destination. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course opened 18 holes for play in October 2010, with the full 27 holes completed in June 2011. Over the years, it has matured beautifully, offering a blend of worldclass golfing conditions and an enjoyable experience for players of all levels.
Palmares is composed of three distinctive nine-hole loops—Alvor (1–9), Lagos (10–18), and Praia (19–27)—which can be played in any sequence. This flexible routing means that every round presents a fresh challenge.
Each loop has its own distinct character: Alvor offers a traditional parkland design, Praia delivers a true links experience, while Lagos, a heathland course, acts as a seamless transition between the two.
At the heart of Palmares is its striking clubhouse, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects RCR Arquitectes. More than just a clubhouse, it serves as a vibrant social hub, offering breathtaking views and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
